Indonesia’s 2010 Surfing Champion Putra “Pulu” Hermawan renews his sponsorship deal with Rip Curl Asia.
18-year-old Komang Putra Hermawan, a.k.a Pulu, yesterday resigned his sponsor agreement with Rip Curl for another 2-year period. The super grom from Lembongan Island won the ISC (Indonesian Surfing Championship) Open Division and the ISC Pro Junior championships in 2010, and is on his way to becoming a successful international pro surfer.
At the signing, Pulu said, “ It has been a fantastic being with Rip Curl for the last 2 years. I got all the support I needed to become the Indonesian champion – and now the next step is to focus on the international level of surfing. My next goal is the ASP World Pro Junior Tour and the ASP World Qualification Series. I know it will be a challenge to compete against all those international pro surfers but I will try hard to score some good results. I am so stoked about this opportunity to be on the Rip Curl team for another 2 years.”

Rip Curl’s Team Manager Wayan Yudha added, ”This is part of our vision in support of young surfers who want to take their surfing to the next level. Kids like Putra Hermawan and Oney Anwar, both of who have been ISC Junior Division Champions, are leading the way. We have such great waves here in Indo that are in turn producing a frothing new generation of surfers coming up. There is no reason why we cannot compete on international level with the other surfers around the globe in the very near future.”
Putra Hermawan and Oney Anwar are already surfing events on the world junior circuit, representing Indonesia on the international stage, and Rip Curl Asia proudly supports them in their search for international success.
